The original reservoir was built to supply Northampton and surrounding areas with drinking. It was built in 1908 and finished in 1979.
The lake is a popular destination for recreation and a habitat for wildlife, it is an area ideal for birds, insects and wildlife.
The approximate circumference around the reservoir is 3 miles, which would take about one hour depending on the pace you walk. Certain times of the year produces a carpet of Bluebells which enhances the area, also mammals, Rabbits, Fox, Badgers and Deer visit the park.
